Standing out while sitting down

As foreigners, we get a fair number of interactions that would be unusual by local standards. But this morning’s interaction was somewhere in between.

We were sitting in Piazza Bra admiring L’Arena when a young man came over and said to us, in Italian, that he liked our style. We chatted a bit in a mix of Italian and English, and it turns out that he is from Bolzano. He said that he is a circus pole performer, and as he was taking his leave, he gave us his card. It turns out Alex Aufderklamm is quite an interesting character, if you check out his website, which I encourage you to do. It was fun that he came over.

So why did he come talk to us about our style? Well, people do come up to us occasionally in the U.S. as well. One gentleman came over to us in VCR and said that he had just come back from Dubai and that we looked like we would fit in there.

I don’t know about that, but you can check out our style today in these photos. Note that L is wearing the new coat she got yesterday, hand made in Verona.
