And because it’s Italian, the (completely normal) plural is golosi.
Someone who is goloso eats too much, typically habitually but it can also be used for a single event.
Well, that single event for us was lunch today. We went to a new-to-us somewhat fancy restaurant Ristorante La Fontanina, which has gotten many mentions from restaurant guides, including as a Michelin good cooking selection (not a star, but worth going to). It is a modern, though not extreme, take on Italian cooking, something that I have been curious about for awhile. The last time we were in Verona 4 years ago, we went to a couple ostensibly similar places, but we were disappointed at each place 4 years ago.
But not today.
One of the things that convinced me to give today’s restaurant a try was that they have guinea fowl on the menu. I was introduced to guinea fowl when I lived in Mali, and it became one of my favorite special dishes. We had it today, and it was good.
Anyway, as for being golosi, we were doing OK until it came time for dessert. They only have one dessert, and it’s called Dolce Terapia (=Dessert Therapy). Here’s a photo (it’s a double portion):

They were all good, but our favorites were the Chocolate – hot and cold, with a warm chocolate cake and gelato (this is in the bell jar), and a spiced hazelnut cube (behind the glasses of mascarpone topped with blueberries). The spiced cake sort of reminded us (in a good way!) of a dense fruitcake without the candied fruit. For those of you who don’t like fruitcake, I’d say you should try this anyway.
We’re going to give this place another try next week, but I think we won’t let the waiter talk us into ordering 2 appetizers AND 2 mains PLUS the Dessert Therapy again, as delicious as they all were..
We’ll report back,
Don’t see the photo, but sounds delish. I love that you two can share dishes and therefore try more things (like in your previous post).
Sorry about the photo! It should be there now.
That Dessert Therapy — how beautifully it’s presented!
